Mayor Lori Lightfoot broke the news Tuesday as coronavirus cases continue to spike in the city.

  • Some Chicago Public Schools could return to remote learning if coronavirus cases continue to surge. Decisions will be made on a school by school and classroom by classroom basis after winter break. (Chalkbeat)

  • A 30-year-old Chicago firefighter injured while responding to an apartment fire in Belmont Central last week has died. Firefighter Mashawn Plummer of Engine 94 joined the department last year. (FOX32)
  • NFL Hall of Famer Dan Hampton had a blood alcohol level more than twice the legal limit when he was charged with drunken driving in Indiana last month. The former Bears player and radio broadcaster told police he had five beers before getting pulled over near his home in Winfield, Ind. (Patch)
